Yazd is famous across Iran for its sweets, and Haj Khalifeh Ali Rahbar is one of the city's best-known confectioners, with a name built on Yazdi baklava, qottab and pashmak. Yazdi baklava is quite different from the syrup-soaked Turkish kind: thin layers of pastry are filled with ground almond and pistachio, scented with cardamom and rosewater, and cut into small diamonds that are only lightly sweet and melt in the mouth.
This 500 g box is made for sharing. Put it out for guests with green tea or kahwa, take it along when visiting family at Eid, or add it to the dessert table at a mehndi or walima for a taste of Iran your guests will ask about.
